State of the Linds 8/26

Sorry I haven't been updating a whole lot here. A lot of it is due to the fact that my laptop has been having some major problems, especially with the internet. I shudder to think that I may have to buy a new one soon, especially when this one isn't even two years old yet. I think she qualifies as a POS. Eric is talking about buying a new one around Christmas time, and I think i may do the same if i can pay off my camera before then (on my Best Buy card) and if this one is somewhat okay give it to my parents to cover a few of the old car payments i can't make right now (they're consolidated with Dad's business loans). Either way, yuck.

Yesterday Tara, Cora, and Alexa (Cora's daughter) came and visited me for a few hours after work. It was SO GOOD to see them, and to get to meet Alexa FINALLY! We just hung around the apartment, I made dinner, and then we went to a nearby park to tire Alexa got a lot of nice pictures--cause I take my camera pretty much everywhere I go.

Work is going okay. We have a new supervisor and she's making things easier. The job search just hasn't gone well in terms of full time positions. I have a connection at the Nines for a waitressing job (part time) but I can't get the guy on the phone. There is a woman who comes into work, the mgr for kilpatricks (an Irish pub) saying that they needs waitresses so I told her I was interested. I picked up and application and she let me list her as a reference so now I am just waiting to hear. Its not glamorous, but hopefully it would be somewhat enjoyable and make things financially easier since the savings is getting quite low.

I need to do something with my hair. It is in that "in between" stage of length where I can't do anything with it, and am not sure if i want to grow it longer or cut it shorter. Im leaning towards longer only because with it short I need regular trims, and they're just too expensive in Ithaca for anything resembling "regular". Maybe a dye job, but red fades so fast....bah.

Im hoping to get some painting done today, finally having decided to do some small 8"x10" paintings of the distorted and contorted nudes I started in drawings a while ago. I finally got ink for the printer so i can print my images out to work from.

Classes start this week for a lot of people and I am jealous a little bit. I wish i was going back to school, in pretty much any capacity.

Oh well, time to do something.

Vacay

Well, it is long over-due (and i am procrastinating about cleaning up after the tornado that hit the apartment) so here is the post about Vacay!

The nine days was spent in Hammond, NY on the St Lawrence River with Missy, Frank, and Eric at Frank's parent's cottage--so no, i did not camp in a tent for 9 days! We didn't do much other then swim, fish, play games, sleep, nap, do crossword puzzles, and eat. One tradition of camp is to cook something you have not cooked before (although this tradition was bended for old favorites) and I made speedies with a potato salad one day and bruschetta another day. Eric made Japanese favorites Okonomiyaki and Ramen (not the nasty stuff we can get for 25 cents) and it was yummy. Frank and Missy went all out making things like poppyseed chicken, home made rubens, lasagna, eggs benedict and much more. Needless to say I wasn't thrilled to step on the scale after to food smorgisborg but I think it was balanced out by all the swimming and only gained a pound! WOOT! And Im back to elliptical so hopefully that will be gone in no time! Missy's 32nd birthday was while we were at camp and we had a mini party with a super delicious cake, mmmm cake. We went to Alexandria bay a few times, had pizza on the bay and walked around looking at all the boats that we wish we could afford! In addition there were other guests of Missy and Frank's parents at different times, neighbors Betty and Dave (who took us on 2 different boatrides to see Brockville at sunset--so pretty!), and Frank's sister and her husband Sarah and Dave. We also went to the drive in and saw "GI JOE" and "ORPHAN" (each a bit better then my rather low expectations, GI JOE having Christopher Eccelston-a former Doctor Who-was a high point). I did get sick friday night into saturday, my sinuses exploding so most of my last full day there was spent sleeping. Also, my friend, Amy had her baby, Cordelia saturday morning at 2:09 am. Cordy was 5 weeks early and weighed 5lbs and was 18 inches but is in good heath. She is still in the hospital until she gains more weight, but we're all excited!

Home now, and the cats are excited to be back. There's been a lot of shuffling of people at work-something that seems to be making it marginally better. Ive gotta call tonight about a waitressing job my friend Dani mentioned to me at the Nines. Eric is also looking into a vacation to Alaska for next may-ish for Me, Him, Missy and frank, so ive gotta make some money! Here's hoping.

Oh yes, check out the camp pics on facebook!

Also todays list of "TO DO":
*Clean the apartment
*Go pick up some groceries for dinner
*Teach the elderly ladies
*I really need to finish Lance & Stephs wedding photos
*Paint

I think the latter is not going to happen. Sigh :-(

Thats all for now.
